Position Description:

We are looking for a talented security professional to lead the vulnerability management program with the goal of reducing vulnerability risk for Ally.  This person will be accountable to the Cyber Security and Technology leadership teams in the reporting and escalation of un-remediated vulnerabilities.

The ideal candidate is able to develop and maintain strong partnerships with technology teams to drive end-to-end vulnerability remediation, broaden awareness, and set best practices.  They can provide subject matter expertise on current and emerging zero-day vulnerabilities, exploit types, and threat campaigns.  They provide a final quality check on vulnerability risk ratings.

Candidates for this role can show that they have run cyber security programs in the past, including expressing a vision, setting requirements, improving processes, measuring results, and responding to concerns from challenge partners such as auditors and regulators. 

To ensure success, the candidate should have leadership skills which allow for the effective direction of the vulnerability management team.  They will establish daily operational cadences, regular communications, and conduct resource planning.  They will recruit and hire team members when openings arise.  They will ensure that training of new team members accurately reflects team processes and best practices.  They will coach and mentor team members, providing performance feedback regularly.

The Work Itself

Responsibilities and Principal Expectations
  • Reporting and escalation of un-remediated vulnerabilities
  • Maintain partnerships that drive end-to-end vulnerability remediation
  • Provide subject matter expertise on current and emerging zero-day vulnerabilities, exploit types, and threat campaigns
  • Assist incident response efforts on critical vulnerability response
  • Establish effective direction, vision, requirements, improvements, and measurements for the vulnerability management program
  • Works well with audit, risk, compliance, and regulatory partners.
  • Assist vulnerability management team members with data analysis
  • Work with technology teams to put in place action plans for vulnerability resolution
  • Be a responsive and helpful engagement point for technology teams attempting to resolve their vulnerabilities
  • Ensure meaningful vulnerability reports are regularly distributed to key stakeholders
  • Follow escalation procedures when vulnerability remediation expectations are not met
  • Ensure that configuration baseline documentation for common company technologies is up to date and that scan results are resolved by technology teams
• Develop methods to improve the effectiveness team operations

The Skills You Bring

Requirements:

·       Seven or more years in information security roles

·       Two or more years in leadership roles

·       Ability to translate data into reports that convey clear meaning for stakeholders

·       Strong written and verbal communication skills

·       Leadership skills to effectively delegate to, and coach employees

·       Collaboration skills to be able to affect change across technology teams

·       Ability to manage multiple demands under challenging timelines


Desired Skillset, Experience, and/or Training:

·       Work experience with vulnerability scanners such as Qualys, Rapid7, Tenable or Prisma Cloud

·       Familiarity with enterprise configuration management systems such as ServiceNow

·       Familiarity with systems administration functions on Windows or Red Hat Linux

·       Familiarity with a variety of common server, middleware, and desktop class applications such as java JDKs, Adobe products, and Apache products

·       Familiarity of cloud and container technologies, platforms, and environments

·       Clear understanding of enterprise-class application, network, and infrastructure security architecture

·       Background in application development or systems administration

·       Security+, CISSP, CISM or similar security certifications

·       Familiarity with agile work methodologies
