As a Mobile technology leader on the Digital Solutions' mobile team, you will be responsible for leading the team to design, development and delivery of Ally native iOS or Android mobile applications. And support the mobile delivery organization with insights of how to efficiently operate and execute delivery of mobile features. You must exhibit good interpersonal and communication skills and have experience working with product owners as well as internal and external technical teams and resources. You'll be delivering in an Agile operating model in which collaboration and a sense of team is paramount to your success.

The Work Itself

Define strategy for mobile platform and mobile technical foundations. Collaborate with broader enterprise technical groups and supporting teams to determine an ecosystem on which mobile projects can be designed and delivered.  Assist in defining specifications for significant new projects and perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of iOS or Android applications according to the specifications. Additionally, provide leadership and expertise in the development of new products, services and processes including:

  • Lead an Agile mobile development team, while writing code to experiment  with new technologies.
  • Manage and lead multiple agile delivery teams to execute and deliver mobile features to customers
  • Inspire and motivate the technology team to excel in their role and bring the best out of them
  • Partner with external technology teams including Solution Architects and API delivery teams to design and integrate best-in-class solutions to industry standard methodologies
  • Partner with product owners to prioritize and define roadmaps that deliver mobile foundational capabilities
  • Enable team to experiment and research on industry trends on new libraries and tools and effectively partner with EUC to enable its usage in delivery teams.
  • Experiment with cross platform technologies like ReactNative and Flutter etc.. and identify usecases where these will be a better fit.
  • Conduct and participate in code review sessions to ensure quality and performance
  • Define secure solution inclusive of remediation of items discovered in security scanning process
  • Conduct Hackathons, techtalks etc..  and encourage and contribute to techblogs, opensource/innersource initiatives.
  • Use cloud based technologies like Bitrise to enable and implement CI/CD pipelines for mobile app features rollouts.

The Skills You Bring

Technical Skills :

  • 7+ years of experience in designing, developing and delivering cohesive, resilient and high-performing native iOS or Android mobile applications.
  • 7+ years of experience in technology related leadership roles on development, design and implementing capabilities on the digital channel including web, mobile, services, databases etc..
  • Hands on experience in building apps on relavant platforms ( iOS - Objective-C, Swift ) ( Android – Java, Kotlin) with additional knowledge on Flutter, ReactNative, Kotlin Multiplatform and their interoperability
  • Experience in using IDEs such as XCode/Android Studio/VSCode
  • Foundational Elements of iOS including Coredata, Grand Central Dispatch, UIKit, Keychain, Codeable, URLSession, and SwiftUI (knowledge)
  • Foundational Elements of Android including RX Java, Retrofit, Coroutines, Constraint Layout, Jetpack compose,  GoogleMaps APIs, Google Streaming APIs etc..
  • Mobile application design patterns (MVC, MVVM, MVP, Human Interface Guidelines, Material design)
  • Performance testing with Instruments, Unit tests with XCTest, Automation tests with XCUITest, Espresso
  • Complete understanding of Android/iOS native platforms
  • Experience in AI/ML concepts and its applicability in mobile platform ( Core ML, ML Kit, tensorflow lite etc.. )
  • Performance testing with CPU Profiler, Unit tests with Junit, Automation tests with Espresso
  • Significant experience integrating internal and external RESTful APIs
  • Significant experience evaluating and integrating Third Party SDKs
  • Significant experience translating product requirements into design specifications
  • Significant experience working with accessibility frameworks
  • Experience with at least one SDLC methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Waterfall)
  • Extensive Debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Experience developing large scale, highly available distributed systems
  • Experience in a financial services or brokerage environment is a plus

 

Leadership Skills:

  • 3+ years of leading mobile development team to delivery iOS or Android app features
  • Extensive experience in collaborating with Business partners/Product teams to plan, prioritize and execute mobile capability delivery.
  • Strong sense of ownership, passion to build quality products for massive scale in collaborative, agile environment and excitement to learn.
  • Ability to provide expert level support and maintenance of core software functionality to solve problems and implement changes
  • Be a change driver that propels the mobile technology space at ally to be the best in class.
  • Interest in new technologies and vision to identify opportunities for improvement within the team and broader business unit

Education:

  • BS / MS / PhD in in Computer Science, Math or related engineering fields or equivalent practical experience
