The Work Itself
- Design and implement scalable analytic solutions around cloud costs and compliance
- Implement solutions that anticipate and react to cost changes in Ally's public cloud environment
- Implement automation that validates controls for costs, budgets, and compliance
- Implement solutions that make staying under budget easy for other teams
- Work with others on the team, taking initiative and direction to ensure the consolidation and refinement of our data architecture
- Synthesizing of analysis and research into strategic insights and practical recommendations
- Partners with cloud engineers, information security, core infrastructure teams and application developers to enable agility through best-in-class automation
- Learn and lead by example in a team of highly skilled, talented Cloud Engineers
- Collaborate and partner with counterparts in Security, Enterprise Architecture, and CIO application teams
- Champion a collaborative development approach in tune with our Agile methodology that encourages and accepts cross-team contributions and emphasizes transparency
- Assist with the architecture and implementation of infrastructure-as-code and policy-as-code objectives
The Skills You Bring
- Deep understanding of cloud-based services usage and pricing; AWS
- Unique ability to bridge finance and technology
- Experience with hands on technical implementations in the public cloud
- Experience connecting to APIs through programming languages to automate data collection
- 3+ years of experience with cloud engineering and development
- Architecting solutions that help foster data transparency in the public cloud
- A background in data structures, data gathering, and data enrichment
- Experience with Python or another similar scripting language
- Experience gathering and merging data from separate APIs to help build enriched data collections
- Experienced with databases (NoSQL or relational) and other ways to store data (S3, etc); able to construct a cohesive and scalable data architecture
- Experience with testing your code and automating those tests
- Good facilitation and influencing skills; strong collaborative mindset
