As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and automating systems, tools, and processes to grow and support Ally’s platforms. You will collaborate with technology team members and subject matter experts to design and build solutions for automating, building, and maintaining the next generation infrastructure for Ally’s key Financial Application. The Work Itself

  • Work with Application and Infrastructure teams to optimize the current AWS cloud platform
  • Ensure availability, reliability, and performance of AWS IaaS Platform using Terraform and Ansible
  • Provide coordination of any project tasks, toll gates, and milestones
  • Assist the SAP Operations team to triage and troubleshooting of production and non-production issues around AWS Pipeline deployment, Terraform and Ansible
  • Identify and contribute to opportunities that bring efficiency, consistency, and reliability via automation activities
  • Implement automation that will support regular operational activities - patching, health checks, application operational tasks, etc.
  • Provides technical expertise in the establishment and implementation of standards and guidelines that guide the design of technology solutions including architecting and implementing solutions
  • Requiring integration of multiple platforms, operating systems, and applications
  • Provide guidance on patching, software implementations, and upgrades to Redhat and Oracle Linux
  • May be required to work varied schedules, including on-call responsibilities

The Skills You Bring

  • 3 - 5 years of professional experience designing and supporting cloud IaaS Models and architecture
  • 3+ years of experience as a technical AWS engineer with strong Unix operations Background
  • 3+ years’ Experience with automating and provisioning infrastructure and/or applications using Terraform for automation and Configuration management using Ansible.
  • 3+ years’ experience with DevOps practices and supporting CI/CD workloads or related automation (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, Gitlab, Jenkins, etc.)
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience of programming & Scripting experience such as Python, Ruby, Shell Scripts.
  • Experience with the full software development lifecycle and delivery using Agile practices
  • Experience designing and implementing reliability features into existing software
  • Strong understanding of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, TLS/SSL, IP networking, VPN's, load balancing and firewall etc)
  • Strong understanding of application load-balancing strategies (DNS, Proxy, etc) and API Gateways
  • Experience with Git and version control platforms (Github, GitLab, Bitbucket, etc)
  • Experience with monitoring and log aggregating frameworks such as Splunk, App Dynamics, extended monitoring using native AWS toolset.
  • Experience implementing and designing cloud native security concepts, DevSecOps or MLOps.
  • AWS Certification(s) such as Solutions Architect Pro, DevOps Engineer Pro, SysOps Admin, Developer Associate. etc
  • Strong presentation, verbal communication, and written communications skills.
  • Ability to participate & collaborate with multiple teams, preferably from a professional services organization or similar.
