The Opportunity

As part of Treasury’s Balance Sheet Management Team, this analyst position will contribute to all aspects of interest rate risk management (IRR) and stress test forecasting for Ally Financial and its regulated subsidiaries.  The position is primarily focused on quantifying and reporting on the firm’s interest rate risk exposure (including economic value of equity and net interest income sensitivity) as well as contributing to the improvement of the IRR management process.  In addition, the analyst will help assess the balance sheet and net interest income impact associated with stress test scenarios (i.e. CCAR & Dodd-Frank).  This role will have significant interaction with key business partners across Treasury, Capital Markets, Finance and our business segments.

The Work Itself

  • Responsible for production and accuracy of interest rate risk reporting.
  • Work with Balance Sheet Management partners to identify drivers of changes in risk metrics and attribution.
  • Produce valuation and forecast results using BSM’s risk framework software and reporting platforms.
  • Assist in the NII forecasting process associated with company’s stress testing framework.
  • Develop and maintain process and model control documentation related to Interest Rate Risk and Stress Testing.

The Skills You Bring

  • 3+ years progressive experience in the financial industry.
  • Possesses solid technical expertise, business and industry knowledge, and process and leadership capabilities.
  • Experience with QRM (quantitative risk management)
  • Familiarity with balance sheet management/ assets and liability management 
  • Well-developed project management, analytical and judgment skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Building ability to influence others and build consensus.
  • Increased ability to work with limited supervision while applying previous experience to execute moderately complex tasks.
  • Ability to analyze possible solutions using standard procedures.
  • Increased technical skill using models and other forecasting tools.
  • Exhibit a strong work ethic and high degree of self-motivation.
  • Comfortable interacting with other personnel in group or support staff from other departments; may interact with other internal and external personnel (i.e., external auditors, regulators) on specific projects or routine matters, usually under supervision.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
