The Opportunity

  • As a part of the Data Solutions Support Team, this individual will be responsible to build world class data tools and reporting and analytical solutions for Ally's Auto Asset Management. As Senior Data Analyst at Ally you will leverage analytic and technical skills to innovate, build, and maintain well-managed data solutions and capabilities to tackle business problems

The Work Itself

Built data tools from end to end to improve business processes using Python (e.g. Flask, Django, pyGui).

Partner with the business to provide consultancy and translate the business needs to design and develop tools, techniques, metrics, and dashboards for insights and data visualization and process optimization.

Develop operational and analytical dashboards using Python and/or Power BI.

Possess Data Warehousing principals and concepts to help build reporting data marts in Oracle and SnowFlake.

Advanced working knowledge of Python, SQL, HTML, Java as well as Database to produce reports and build data solutions.

Working knowledge of Big data concepts and data retrieval from Snowflake and multiple other sources.

Stays current with industry trends and leads development of key data/analytics innovation platforms

Collaborates with governance teams to design and implement common data standards to enable consistent and accurate reporting for the business

Partner with senior management to understand and deliver key analytic solutions to facilitate performance insights

Ensure stability, performance and support of production reporting and meet demand for data across Analytic teams


The Skills You Bring

Required:
• A Bachelor's degree in business, finance, engineering, or similar discipline with quantitative focus
• 3 - 5 years of experience in the financial services industry, with knowledge of (or exposure to) portfolio servicing operations in consumer finance
• Working experience with Python. Knowledge of SQL, data warehousing, statistical analysis tools, and data visualization tools like Power BI is a plus.
• Experience extracting and processing data with Python
• Working knowledge of visualization libraries in python (e.g. bokeh, flask, etc)
• Experience gathering business requirements, using industry standard business intelligence tools to extract data, formulate metrics and build reports
• Analytical drive to break down complex problems, and a strong will to deliver results
• Ability to deal with ambiguity and competing objectives in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to display complex quantitative data in a simple, intuitive format and to present findings in a clear and concise manner
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
• Quick learner and has demonstrated ability to initiate, develop and execute small to medium scale projects
• Work well within a team of analysts and collaborate with individuals with technical and non-technical backgrounds
• Ability to work effectively in fast paced environment with tight deadlines
Preferred:
• Practical knowledge in developing queries and procedures in Python and SQL
• Working knowledge of visualization and deployment of dashboard using python bokeh, flask, or similar tools
• Background in statistics methodology, applications to business problems
• Experience in using Python or a similar programming language to analyze data
• Experience in designing and implementing custom reporting and visualizations using BI tools (Tableau, MicroStrategy, Power BI, Business Objects, etc.)
• Experience in Snowflake and utilizing open-source tech stack to query data
• Experience in scripting languages for parsing and data analysis
