The Opportunity

The Compliance Analyst III will support in the development, implementation and maintenance of the Compliance Testing Program that includes testing and reporting in accordance with regulatory expectations.  This position will focus on testing for the DFS Auto and Insurance business lines but may include additional business lines as assigned. This position will require analysis of moderate to complex regulations, business processes, procedures and controls for execution of testing techniques as assigned.

The Work Itself

  • Responsible for the well-constructed draft of test scripts and test methodology in support of test procedures and regulatory requirements applicable to the business line requiring minimal material revisions.
  • Executes predefined testing techniques to a sample of data, events or transactions and captures results for communication to interested parties (compliance, line of business, auditors, examiners).
  • Partner with compliance staff to identify business line compliance controls, develop a corresponding test plan and lead with support the execution of testing compliance controls with a test of design and test of effectiveness.
  • Lead discussions with support partners and business unit management to communicate the compliance testing scope, objective, exceptions/issues and associated regulatory risk identified.
  • Prepare test workpapers, prepare report and if applicable, the Issue Rating Matrix and Compliance Corrective Action Form with minimal material revisions.
  • Upload test workpaper, supporting documentation and final report as required and update all appropriate reporting systems.
  • Participate in timely responses to regulatory exams and internal audits.  Leads with support process/testing routines with Audit.
  • Propose Compliance related data execution needs for testing, as applicable with minimal support.
  • Draft Compliance related management reports from testing, as applicable with minimal support.
  • Demonstrates strong foundation of Consumer Laws Rules and Regulations, and keeps abreast of relevant changes in laws, rules or regulations that impact the financial services industry.
  • Train / mentor compliance staff in areas of subject matter expertise. 

The Skills You Bring

  • Successful candidates must demonstrate solid written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical and critical thinking skills, and a desire to perform in a dynamic and ever-changing environment.
  • 3-5 years of compliance or auditing / testing experience including documenting test results and workpapers and communicating test results. 
  • 3-5 years of Compliance experience, with emphasis on consumer regulations including a working knowledge of applicable law and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to interpret and understand laws and regulations, research and identify requirements and related controls and assist in developing transaction test scripts.
  • Ability to learn new processes, systems, and controls quickly with minimal training, adding value quickly.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Bachelors’ degree in business or a related major preferred.
  • Must be willing to travel on a limited basis.
