The Opportunity

The Sr. Analyst – Business Line Risk operates independently of the functional teams within Deposits.  This role will report to the Manager – Business Line Risk and will assist in the day-to-day management of Ally Bank Deposits Business Line Risk Program. The scope of this position includes interfacing with the various departments, business partners, and bank customers relative to risk detection, control, remediation, event management, and monitoring.  The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management

The Work Itself

  • Assist with coordination and execution of the Deposits Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process, ensuring compliance with Enterprise Standard. This includes, but is not limited to, coordinating, leading, and reporting on RCSA and pRCSA assessments; maintaining and caring for hierarchy changes; timely and accurate handling of Trigger events; effectively partnering with BL, SMEs and ORM to ensure assessment quality and address any QA/QC feedback, providing first-line review and challenge to the business throughout the process, providing subject matter expertise related to RCSA
  • Daily collaboration, both within Deposits and cross-functionally, to proactively identify and address areas of risk
  • Provide management with an independent and objective evaluation of the control environment. Deliver difficult results to leaders in more senior roles.
  • Assist with development and/or maintenance of new risk policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Prepare presentation decks for Business Line Risk routines on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Provide support/assistance to other areas of Deposits Business Line Risk programs as needed, including Issue and Regulatory Change Management, Metrics, Loss Oversight, etc

The Skills You Bring

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in financial services with operational, risk, or program/project management experience
  • Comprehensive and current knowledge of banking concepts with a strong understanding of related laws, rules, and regulations
  • Ability to partner well across multiple skill sets and levels; strong relationship management and collaboration skills
  • Familiarity/working knowledge of risk management components (e.g., policy/procedures, governance, reporting, risk control self-assessments, loss event capture) preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and handle diverse/competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail and following through on commitments
  • Critical thinker with an eye to continuous improvement
  • High level of personal integrity, with the ability to handle confidential and otherwise sensitive matters professionally and with the appropriate level of judgement and maturity
  • Willingness to adapt to meet the needs of the risk organization in a dynamic regulatory environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office (specifically Excel) required
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Finance expertise not required, but an understanding of basic financial concepts is preferred
  • GRC tool familiarity or experience is preferred (e.g. Archer or equivalent)
  • BA/BS is strongly preferred
