The Opportunity

As a Senior Email Developer at Ally, you will be responsible for producing highly dynamic emails across Ally brands utilizing Salesforce Marketing Cloud. This position will work collaboratively with business partners to ensure emails are built according to brand & accessibility standards, as well as follow current email best practices. The ideal person will have advanced skills in developing and deploying email campaigns and landing pages that may include dynamic data, AMPscript, forms, SQL, and SMS.

The Work Itself

The Senior Email Developer's responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
  • Using HTML & CSS, you will code, QC, and validate responsive emails using assets from internal UX or external agencies’ assets
  • Using Ally’s email platform, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, you’ll create and QC content, deploy user-initiated and/or automated email campaigns in Automation Studio, set up & maintain data extensions, segment files using filters or file indicators, monitor deliverability, etc.
  • Develop and publish landing pages and SMS campaigns in support of email & marketing campaigns 
  • Conduct & document self and peer reviews to identify & troubleshoot rendering issues across desktop and mobile devices
  • Manage multiple email projects simultaneously and prioritize accordingly
  • Ensure all work being produced meets the highest standards, error free, and delivered on time 
  • Research & recommend new best practices, efficiencies, and process improvements; be an established email subject matter expert
  • Support and mentor members of the email team and marketing partners with knowledge share, open communication, and teamwork
  • Proactive approach to problem identification and resolution related to execution of email campaigns & automations

The Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in email development; writing HTML, CSS, and media queries for specific devices
  • Advanced experience using Salesforce Marketing Cloud (or similar) is highly desired 
  • Expertise using AMPscript (or similar) to produce multiple versions of personalized & dynamic emails in SFMC
  • Experience with 3rd party tools such as Email on Acid, Movable Ink, and Persado is a plus
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, and InVision is helpful
  • Basic knowledge of any object-oriented programming is helpful but not required (Java, Ruby, Python, etc)
  • Ability to work outside of standard business hours, when needed
  • Knowledge of CAN-SPAM and e-mail regulatory compliance
  • Very high attention to detail; capable and confident problem-solving skills  
  • Ability to multitask complex projects independently; flexibility to work within frequently changing priorities
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines with effectiveness, accuracy, and efficiency

  • Starting Pay: The starting pay for this role is $82,500 per year.  In addition, this role is eligible for an annual bonus program with a target of 7% of annual base pay, based on individual and corporate performance. This is the starting pay for this role. Actual offers determined based on individual qualifications and experience.
