Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. The Opportunity

The Senior Director of Fraud Analytics and Data Science will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to detect and combat fraud across Invest and Deposit Operations.  This role requires a deep understanding of data science, advanced analytics, and machine learning techniques.  The successful candidate will lead a team of analysts and data scientists to build sophisticated rule and model strategies which protect our clients and business from fraudulent activity while enabling a more seamless client experience.

The Work Itself

  • Spearhead the transformation of our fraud detection strategy and capabilities.
  • Lead, mentor and manage a team of fraud detection analysts and data scientists.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Utilize advance analytics, machine learning, and data science techniques to detect and prevent fraud.
  • Constantly keep our client’s top of mind balancing fraud prevention with client experience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Fraud Strategy, product, IT, compliance, enterprise data, legal and operations, to implement effective fraud prevention measures while balancing an exceptional client experience.
  • Communicate findings and insights to senior management and other stakeholders, providing actionable recommendations.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of fraud prevention measures.
  • Represent the company in industry forums and with regulatory bodies on matters related to fraud analytics.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies and tools to enhance fraud detection and prevention capabilities.
  • Drive innovation by exploring new data sources and feature creation for fraud detection.
  • Develop and maintain repeatable and sustainable governance processes for model risk management and rule strategies.
  • Develop and support a fraud event management function.

The Skills You Bring

    • 10+ years of experience in fraud analytics and data science, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
    • Bachelors degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science or related field required
    • Mast degree preferred in related field preferred. 
    • Experience building and managing a high performing analytics team.
    • Expert in programming languages such as Python, R, or SAS, and big data technologies.
    • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful strategies to detect multiple fraud types.
    • Innovative approaches to using big data to find the fraud while best servicing our clients.
    • Extensive experience in machine learning, statistical analysis, and data mining techniques.
    • Ability to lead the development of sustainable ongoing model risk management practices.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Base Pay Range: $165000 - $240000 USD
An individual's position in the range is determined by the specific role, the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications. We review internal pay, the competitive market, and business environment prior to extending an offer. 
Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan.
