Ally Lending’s Product and CX organization is a multidisciplinary team that examines end-to-end consumer journeys and considers the design of systems to be as important as the artifacts we make. We’re looking for a Digital Product Senior Director who will lead across several product domain teams to create and deliver products in the point-of-sale financing space and change borrowers’ relationship with debt for the better.


The Senior Director of Digital Product will work directly with senior executives of the enterprise to consult, coach, and advise on strategy, business alignment, digital product solutions, and the associated impact on the organization and its partners.  Foundationally the Senior Director will bring a deep understanding of business transformation and organizational structure to develop Digital Product Strategy and address senior leadership priorities in a creative way.  The Senior Director will also coordinate resolution of highly complex problems and tasks, selling new ideas and concepts in support of operational goals and objectives. By directing high-level analysis, evaluation, design, documentation, and measurement, this individual will also provide technical and analytical guidance to product domain teams across Ally Lending and integrate and translate complex concepts into tactical action plans.


Successful execution of this role will be achieved through a combination of leadership, product development/solutioning experience, GTM planning and execution ability, strong knowledge of merchants’ technology ecosystem, market trends, solutions and technologies, excellent communication and technical skills, collaboration with multiple internal teams and applied product strategy in product offerings. In addition, this role will contribute to the overall strategic vision, planning and operation of Ally Lending product solution portfolio.


The Work Itself

This is a matrixed, cross functional role, so organizational savvy and interpersonal skills are critical. This role will interface across multiple Ally business lines and engage cross-departmentally to coordinate the build, launch and support of new and existing products. We’re looking for an individual that pays attention to detail, is customer centric and experience focused, with a proven track record of success in fast-paced environments with demanding timelines, an ability to correlate data and trends to business drivers, but who can also think big and contribute to strategic planning, drive change management, and lead executive messaging. Key responsibilities of the work include:

  • Work closely with the Executives within each Business Unit to ensure alignment of the product strategies with their business strategies and goals
  • Participate as a mentor for a community of product managers
  • Identify creative, digital-based opportunities to improve service, reduce costs, and increase revenues with customers, business partners, and vendors
  • Ensure effective design and development of solutions; employing effective governance methods for transparency and communication
  • Work with constantly evolving technologies and internal partners to analyze and define unique and innovative solutions for achieving Ally's strategic business goals
  • Establish processes for monitoring the roadmaps of strategic relationships for internal adjustments to product designs and processes, as needed
  • Assist product managers in the design and implementation of high-performance, enterprise-grade systems with successful adoption within business processes across Ally
  • Coordinate product governance process setting direction for solution design standards and best practices
  • Develop return on investment performance measures for digital product decisions

The Skills You Bring

  • 12+ years of experience as a product manager or strategist in consumer lending / financial services, digital channels, or B2B/enterprise software, ideally in an Agile delivery model
  • Proven work experience in product management leadership role, from ideation to commercial success
  • Strong understanding and proven work experience on merchant financial products, solutions, and technologies
  • Proven experience and understanding of product development methodologies
  • Entrepreneurial approach to rapidly testing new product concepts in the market and incorporating learnings
  • Demonstrated track record of developing product strategies based on business objectives and coordinating the successful implementation to deliver measurable business results
  • Attention to detail and quality on both internal team work and external products brought to market
  • Hands-on and consistently turn strategies into execution and results
  • Flexible and creative thinker with the ability to define business tradeoffs, generate out-of-the-box solutions and manage uncertainty
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills to influence and instill confidence with stakeholders at all levels and in all functions/geographies
  • Team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic, and results driven, with proven success over a wide variety of functional business problems
  • Excellent communication skills, strong executive presence, and the ability to lead and inspire teams

  • Strong sense of urgency and experience driving to successful commercialization
  • Experience with API design, standards and documentation
  • Experience in payment acceptance, both online and face-to-face
  • Ability to work with limited direction, usually within a complex and often ambiguous environment, to develop rigorous, fact-based recommendations to senior product management while supporting syndication with stakeholders across the organization
