The Opportunity

This position is located within the Portfolio Reporting team of the Consumer Credit Risk organization and is based in Detroit, Michigan.  The senior analyst in this position is responsible for managing large datasets to produce information that supports management, regulatory, and SEC reporting.  This position is also responsible for developing, testing, and implementing new risk reporting processes to support changing business requirements.  The senior analyst will work closely with several other departments including Finance, Accounting, and IT.  The successful candidate will be able to comfortably work with and analyze large datasets, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate reliability and accountability while preparing, validating, and reconciling standardized reports.

The Work Itself

  • Produce and validate monthly/quarterly/yearly reports for various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Be a subject matter expert on consumer auto credit risk reporting including all related aspects (delinquency, criticized assets, TDRs, bankruptcies, repossessions, writedowns, modifications, etc.).
  • Support Ally’s quarterly financial close process by contributing to and reviewing the 10Q/10K, Earnings Presentation, and Financial Supplement.
  • Manage the quarterly consumer FR Y-14Q U.S. Auto and Small Business submissions.
  • Be able to reconcile and explain differences in balances between the general ledger and the data warehouse.
  • Act as a liaison with IT to understand all current data issues and how they might impact data integrity of data we use.
  • Maintain and update all SAS code as necessary.
  • Actively develop and implement process improvements for existing deliverables to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Design, test, and implement new production reports based on management needs.

The Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Math, or related business field.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in a fast-paced analytical/reporting role.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel 
  • Must be familiar working with large data sets 
  • Knowledge of SAS, SQL, and Microsoft Access is a plus.
  • Are highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Can initiate proactively and effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate explanations and recommendations to senior management.
