The Opportunity
This role is on a hybrid schedule based out of our Charlotte, NC office only.
The Senior Analyst is responsible for executing various qualitative methodology, analytical, and control-based validation activities, change-based review, qualitative methodology performance evaluations, and subject matter development to apply a risk sensitive approach to model risk management. Also, the Senior Analyst is responsible for coaching/mentoring junior analysts to promote cross learning and assisting the Director, as needed, with other program responsibilities (e.g., inventory onboarding, issue closure testing, forum reporting, internal validation review).
The Work Itself
- Effectively challenge the methodology development process, conceptual soundness, ongoing performance monitoring, implementation, and appropriateness of the assumption use during validation, with on time delivery of high-quality work products.
- Independently scope and execute validation testing and reporting
- Clearly communicate and document findings to internal and external stakeholders in a collaborative manner
- Identify opportunities to enhance validation processes
- Engage in continuous learning opportunities with IRM partners and self-guided research work for alternative and emerging validation techniques.
- Effectively coach, mentor, and motivate teammates to foster teamwork and a cross learning culture
- Develop and maintain effective partnerships with participants / stakeholders within Ally's model risk management community
- Partner with leadership to execute ad hoc requests related to testing, reporting, change management, issue management, and ongoing performance monitoring reviews.
The Skills You Bring
- 3+ years in Model Risk Management, Model Risk consulting, Model audit or a related Owner/Developer role in a Business Line / independent review and challenge function
- (e.g., SOX Financial Controls, Credit Risk, Market Risk, Insurance Risk, Liquidity Risk, CCAR/DFAST, Scenario Analysis, Corporate Forecasting, CECL/ACL)
- Proficient knowledge and comfortability with qualitative methodology/analytical tool implementation platforms such as Excel, Python, SQL, and/or R.
- Masters in a quantitative-based subject with a focus on relevant areas such as: Finance, Economics, Statistics, Analytics or similar work experience
- Strong experience with reading, writing and reviewing technical documents. Preferred: analytical and/or model whitepapers
- Preferred experience in developing, testing, creating challenger tools/models, and effectively testing unique tools, calculations, and assumptions.
- Preferred experience in developing Ongoing Performance Monitoring (OPM) and/or OPM review & challenge
- Experience with reviewing others’ written work and performing QA analysis
- Excellent and demonstratable ability to collaborate, communicate (verbal & written), and collaborate with the Business Line partners to meet enterprise expectations and ensure that the Business Line understands requirements set forth in the Standard
