The Opportunity
This role is on a hybrid schedule in office a few days each week with some remote days.
The Risk Appetite team is part of Enterprise Risk Management and manages Ally’s risk appetite framework including risk appetite statement and risk appetite limit design, development, implementation, reporting, and escalation across all risk types in Ally’s risk taxonomy. The Risk Appetite team is also responsible for QA reviews, helping to achieve full adherence to the expectations set forth in the Enterprise Risk Appetite Standard.
The Risk Appetite Manager is an individual contributor role and works across multiple business functions and risk types to help determine impacts to capital from movements in applicable risk appetite limits, helps to determine and review risk appetite limits under stressed conditions, consistent with the Capital Plan Stress Test (CPST) scenario, may assist in creating reports for the Enterprise Risk Management Committee, and may assist with QA tests.
The Work Itself
- Consult with Independent Risk Management (IRM) and businesses to establish, enhance, and report on risk appetite limits as needed.
- Lead the buildout of the risk capacity framework to relate risks exposure to financial impacts.
- Act as the main point of contact for the risk limit benchmarking exercise, which stresses applicable risk appetite limits using the Capital Plan Stress Test (CPST) scenarios
- Understand the Enterprise Risk Appetite Standard to help stakeholders execute their reporting responsibilities.
- Assist in creating reporting dashboards for internal Risk Appetite team use and for businesses.
- May assist in compiling information from our risk appetite platform (RADAR) into materials for Enterprise Risk Management Committees and Risk Committees.
- May assist in QA tests to review risk appetite limit documentation, design, data sources/transformations, and reporting based on the expectations of the Enterprise Risk Appetite Standard.
The Skills You Bring
- 5+ years in a financial risk, stress testing, or capital management function
- 2+ years required experience in either stress testing or risk appetite responsibilities
- Skilled with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint)
- Bachelors Degree preferred
- Experience in quantitative data analysis, including data aggregation and reporting
- Proven ability to deliver results in a highly complex environment
- Excellent consultative and influencing skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with professionalism; communicate effectively across business levels
- Ability to support multiple assignments and stakeholders while delivering on timelines
- Ability to organize work, prioritize and exercise effective problem-solving skills
- Ability to build strong relationships with internal business partners in a collaborative and team-oriented manner
