Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. Your hiring manager will discuss this role's specific work requirements with you during the hiring process. The Opportunity

The Research Manager works with the Director of Research to manage custom and syndicated research to support market segmentation and intelligence. The role will work directly with external vendors and internal business partners to understand and provide actionable recommendations to support the needs of the business. This will include both using syndicated research and conducting end-to-end consumer research as needed. This position has a high degree of independence and leadership, responsible for communicating directly with business partners, selecting the appropriate research methodology, designing and managing research projects, working with vendors to execute research, and creating and presenting reports to business partners and executives. This position will work closely with the Research team and Marketing team to integrate all research results into the broader story of how Ally is performing overall and where there is further opportunity for Ally.


The Work Itself

  • Manage custom and syndicated research on a day-to-day basis, including working with internal and external partners to understand and communicate available content.
  • Collaborate with internal business partners to understand business goals, uncover knowledge gaps, and identify opportunities where syndicated or custom research can provide actionable insights for the business.
  • Manage end-to-end primary research project, including:
    • Design qualitative and quantitative research plans.
    • Manage questionnaire design and testing, sample selection, data collection/fieldwork, analysis and reporting.
    • Recommend research design, develop research plans, and execute research projects, leveraging vendor relationships along with primary, secondary, and syndicated data sources.
    • Manage and/or execute higher level statistical analysis, including Drivers Analysis, Conjoint, Discreet Choice, MaxDiff, TURF, K-Means Clustering, and Segmentation. 
    • Report and present research findings that relate to business issues and provide actionable business recommendations.
  • Provide proactive insights and reporting based on consumer and market trends, leveraging existing custom and syndicated research studies and market information.
  • Manage strong, professional vendor relationships for primary and syndicated research and market intelligence.

The Skills You Bring

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of market research experience, including designing and analyzing a range of qualitative and quantitative research, questionnaire/discussion guide design, data analysis, report design and creation preferred.
  • Bachelor's, Masters' Degree or PhD in market research, business, statistics, communications or social sciences preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical and non-technical findings into clear, concise, and persuasive recommendations.
  • Strong presentation skills; comfortable communicating insights in both formal and informal settings and tailoring content to the audience.
  • Ability to synthesize data into a cohesive narrative and summarize executive-ready takeaways with clear business implications.
  • Strong data interpretation skills (e.g., data tables, cross-tabulations).
  • Solid understanding of advanced analytics methods such as Drivers Analysis, Conjoint, Discrete Choice, MaxDiff, TURF, K-Means Clustering, Regression Analysis and Segmentation, etc.
  • Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Self-starter with strong follow-through and ownership.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, including prioritization to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Flexibility to manage multiple projects simultaneously and collaborate effectively across functions in a large, matrixed organization.

Base Pay Range: $110000 - $180000 USD
An individual's position in the range is determined by the specific role, the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications. We review internal pay, the competitive market, and business environment prior to extending an offer. 
Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan.
