The Opportunity
Hybrid role located in Detroit!
This position offers an excellent opportunity to learn about the various core dealership and diversified growth programs by supporting aspects of Ally Insurance's growing Business Line Risk Reinsurance Operations program. The team is responsible for the administration associated with the cession statement production, payments and settlements, trust account maintenance and draw downs, account reconciliations, as well as on-going monitoring. Depending on skills, the role may include catastrophe risk monitoring, data analysis, and weather event reporting. This position will allow the Reinsurance Operations Analyst to get broad exposure to all of the various routines involved with the program, providing valuable support to each of the processes.
The Work Itself
- Support reinsurance programs and reinsurers against risk and policy standards
- Support analysis quantifying risk protection and cost of various reinsurance options
- Support reinsurance renewals for core ADI programs (Dealer Open Lot and Garage)
- Regularly update operational files for reinsurance programs (cession statements, invoicing, collateral, external reporting)
- Support regulatory reporting and stress testing (AM Best SRQ, BMA BSCR, OSFI BAAT Ratio, US & CAN ORSA)
- Support reinsurance program performance and tracking
- Monitor weather events and distribute communication to business and leadership as necessary
- Update monthly exposure monitoring
The Skills You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in risk management, finance, economics, mathematics, or related field preferred
- 1-2+ years of experience in insurance or or other financial services industry required
- Basic understanding of reinsurance concepts
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
- High level of accountability and the ability to effectively prioritize tasks
- Ability to take initiative and work as needed to ensure deadlines are met
- Effective at working independently and also collaboratively as part of a team
- Detail oriented with a high level of problem solving capability
- Intermediate user of MS Office Suite
- Familiarity with Python, R, or similar coding language
