The Opportunity
This position is located within the Portfolio Reporting team of the Dealer Financial Services group and is based in Detroit, MI. This team primarily focuses on external credit risk reporting for the Consumer and Commercial Auto portfolios. In this role you will directly support numerous areas of the CFO Group by overseeing the development of credit risk metrics required for SEC disclosure reporting (10K/10Q), Fed/FDIC reporting, management reporting, and Ally’s quarterly earnings materials. The person in this position will be responsible for overseeing the completion of numerous reporting processes in order to provide accurate, timely, and relevant credit risk information for financial reporting purposes. The successful candidate will be able to comfortably work with and analyze large datasets, thrive in a deadline-oriented environment, and demonstrate accuracy and accountability while preparing, validating, and reconciling standardized and ad hoc reports.
The Work Itself
- Oversee the production and validation of numerous monthly/quarterly/yearly reports and datasets that will ultimately be used for external disclosure and earnings reporting.
- Own the production of major Consumer and Commercial Auto credit risk deliverables and all supporting processes including documentation, preparation, validation, integrity checks and process controls, management review and sign-off, audit support, maintenance, process improvements, and data enhancements.
- Propose and drive improvements in all processes to improve the efficiency of producing results while not sacrificing the integrity of the process or losing the detail in underlying support.
- Coordinate review and approval of all quarter end materials including 10Q/10K, earnings presentation, financial supplement, earnings release, management cribs, Fed reporting, Call Report, etc.
- Manage relationships with business partners (Regulatory Reporting, SEC Reporting, Risk Finance, Auto Accounting, Investor Relations, etc) to strengthen cooperation when requesting data/information from them and when providing results/deliverables to them.
- Manage relationships with oversight partners (Deloitte, Financial Controls, Internal Audit, MRM, Data Governance, etc) by representing the team in meetings and providing required support and documentation to ensure the integrity of results being reported in external deliverables.
- Perform a continuous review and challenge of all existing processes to ensure they continue to meet the needs of business partners and tie to control sources.
- Be prepared to respond to changing business needs and new deliverable requests by developing skills to manage the impact analysis, requirements gathering, design, and implementation of new processes.
The Skills You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Math, or related business field.
- MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
- 7+ years of relevant work experience in a fast-paced analytical and reporting role.
- Previous experience supervising analysts preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills required.
- Experience working with very large datasets required and the ability to use that data to identify trends, draw conclusions, and provide explanations for results.
- Ability to collaborate across the organization and build strong relationships with business partners.
- Proven ability to deliver results within tight deadlines while maintaining integrity of complex processes.
- Must demonstrate a strong attention to detail and be highly organized.
- Possess strong analytical and problem-solving/reconciling skills.
- Can initiate proactively and effectively manage multiple priorities.
