Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. The Opportunity

Ally is seeking a passionate public relations professional to join its blossoming external communications team at the manager level. In this role, you will be responsible for utilizing earned media in a purposeful, disruptive, and relevant manner. This role will support the Sports & Entertainment team. To be successful in this role, you should be able to develop, manage, and execute progressive external communications strategies, as well as maintain a strong network of media contacts that can be leveraged to positively increase Ally’s share of voice.

Ally work locations are Charlotte NC or Detroit MI - in office role with hybrid schedule

The Work Itself

  • Develop and implement proactive external communications strategies that support the larger goals of Ally's existing sponsorship portfolio
  • Create strategic and tactical communications, including plans, press releases, media materials, media pitches, and messaging to support key business initiatives
  • Build and cultivate strong relationships with client groups and key subject matter experts to enhance the development of appropriate messages and communications
  • Build and sustain productive relationships with key sports business, consumer, and trade publications consistent with Ally's target demographics and respond to inquiries from the press regarding the business
  • Manage external events and work with partners to ensure high standards and excellent quality is delivered in terms of content, environment and logistics
  • Collaborate with broader marketing team, business partners and agencies to enhance initiatives
  • Analyze results of key initiatives and propose recommendations to achieve goals
  • Contribute to the effectiveness of the Marketing and PR function, including participating in general departmental deliverables and forums and implementing best practices from the team

The Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, journalism, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in Public Relations required
  • In-depth knowledge of the sports, entertainment, and lifestyle media landscape required
  • Sound judgement and extensive media relations experience required
  • Crisis communication experience
  • Experience using PR tools and services, such as Cision, MuckRack and Meltwater
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Knowledge of sports industry trends
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects at a time
  • Excellent computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Social media knowledge
  • Strong work-ethic and desire for continual learning

Base Pay Range: $90000 - $150000 USD
An individual's position in the range is determined by the specific role, the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications. We review internal pay, the competitive market, and business environment prior to extending an offer. 
Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan.
