The Opportunity


This role will join the Data Science team within the Ally Card business. This team is responsible for building and maintaining the statistical models that support strategy decisions across the business. This is an opportunity to join a highly talented and driven team working on solutions to core business problems using cutting-edge analytics. In particular, this individual will play a key role in building and applying models, tools, and analyses in support of the key objectives for our credit card business.

Ally work locations for this role are Wilmington DE, Lewisville TX, or Charlotte NC. Hybrid schedule with 3 days in office and 2 from home. 



The Work Itself

  • Responsible for building and maintaining predictive models for Credit Risk, Direct Mail Response and Account-level Valuations.
  • End-to-end ownership of the model development process: business problem understanding, conceptual model design, data exploration, model build and validation, technical documentation, implementation, business user training and support.
  • Manage a rigorous Model Monitoring framework to ensure models are performing optimally for the business and are refreshed at an appropriate cadence.
  • Provide statistical expertise to support the design of experiments that will enable the business to refine Product, Marketing and Credit strategies.

The Skills You Bring

  • 2+ years of credit modeling/data analytics experience 
  • Advanced Degree (Masters/PhD) in quantitative/statistical fields such as Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Econometrics, or Engineering
  • High degree of expertise with Python/SAS, SQL and other data analysis tools.
  • Detail-oriented, the candidate must be extremely comfortable with working hands-on with large analytical datasets to perform complex data analysis and extract business insights.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn rapidly and solve problems dynamically.
  • Self-starter; comfortable with ambiguity and open-ended problems.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High degree of initiative with a strong drive for results
