The Opportunity

This role will join the Data Science team within the Ally Card business. This team is responsible for building and maintaining the statistical models that support strategy decisions across the business. This is an opportunity to join a highly talented and driven team working on solutions to core business problems using cutting-edge analytics. In particular, this individual will play a key role in ensuring that the modeling process is well-managed with appropriate controls throughout the model Lifecyle. 

Ally announced the acquisition of Fair Square Financial, a digital-first credit card provider, in October of 2021. Ally Credit Card is a team that has combined the experience of seasoned talent from across the card industry with advanced analytical and machine learning techniques to develop and optimize our business. The Work Itself

  • Perform rigorous testing of new models prior to and following implementation
  • Clear documentation of testing processes, results and research/resolution of anomalies
  • Ongoing scoring of batch models
  • Stand up and maintain automated monitoring of input attributes including alerts for significant deviations
  • Stand up and maintain automated monitoring of score outputs (scores, adverse action reasons) with alerts
  • Monitor real-time scoring dashboards and identify issues in a timely manner
  • Research, resolve, communicate and document scoring issues
  • Maintain model performance monitoring dashboards
  • Assist model owners in completing Development Documents
  • Ensure Model Inventory view is kept up-to-date
  • Act as the primary point of contact for Model Audits

The Skills You Bring

  • 2+ years of credit modeling/data analytics experience
  • Advanced Degree (Masters/PhD) in quantitative/statistical fields such as Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Econometrics, or Engineering
  • High degree of expertise with Python/SAS, SQL and other data analysis tools.
  • Detail-oriented, the candidate must be extremely comfortable with working hands-on with large analytical datasets to perform complex data analysis and extract business insights.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn rapidly and solve problems dynamically.
  • Self-starter; comfortable with ambiguity and open-ended problems.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High degree of initiative with a strong drive for results.
