The Opportunity
We are looking for a dynamic Principal of Business Intelligence with excellent communication skills and a background in technology, business intelligence, and strong logic and problem solving. The role will utilize analytical and technical skills to innovate, build, and maintain well-managed data/BI solutions and capabilities to tackle business problems. This analyst would be leveraging Python, SQL, Snowflake, DBT and Power BI to build world class reporting and analytical solutions for Ally's Auto portfolio, strategy and operations team.
The Work Itself
- Responsible for the design, development, and support of business intelligence solutions to meet reporting and analytic needs from Ally's Auto portfolio, strategy and operations team
- Retrieve data from multiple sources to extract, cleanse, aggregate and summarize data using Python, SQL, Snowflake SQL, and DBT to create semantic layers, and to build BI analytical solutions
- Partner with the business to provide consultancy and translate the business needs to design and develop tools, techniques, metrics, and dashboards for insights and data visualization.
- Develop analytical tools and data products for several internal stakeholders, using python and Power BI among other technologies.
- Develop and maintain self-service reporting solutions and/or automated solutions
- Ensure the quality and accuracy of data by creating automated testing scripts
- Participate in the design and implementation of logical and physical data models
- Train and support on Business Intelligence AI capabilities
- Ensure stability, performance and support of production reporting and meet demand for data across Analytic teams
- Address user questions concerning data integrity
- Monitoring performance and communicating functional and technical issues proactively
- Interact with senior management, department leaders and other employees to develop and reach agreement on reporting requirements and priorities
- Advanced working knowledge of Python, SQL, DBT, Snowflake, Power BI, and Database.
- Working knowledge of Big data concepts and data retrieval from Hadoop ecosystem.
- Support Snowflake cloud data platform initiative to bring business teams on board with data, reporting, processes, tools integration, access, and analyst community migration
- Implement robust, reliable, and custom reporting and visualizations using BI tools (Power BI, ThoughtSpot, Excel etc.)
The Skills You Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Business, Finance, Computer Science, MIS, IT or Engineering preferred
- 8+ years of Reporting and visualization experience such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker and Excel etc.
- 5+ Years of Experience working with Relational databases, warehouses and cloud data warehouse experience is preferred. Databases - Oracle, Teradata, Hadoop, Snowflake/Redshift
- 5+ Years of Experience writing complex /Advanced SQL/PL SQL and Curating data layers.
- 5+ Years of experience in coding in Big data environment, Cloud data platforms such as Cloudera Hadoop, AWS or Microsoft Azure
- 5+ Years of Experience in Scripting language such as Python/R and must have knowledge to schedule data scripts to automate data pipeline creation.
- Ability to understand, analyze and articulate complex requirements through visualization (Power BI preferred)
- Strong proficiency in DAX and M language.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft CoPilot features
- Functional knowledge and working knowledge of various data architecture patterns and have a good understanding of data warehouse and big data technology
- 3+ years of experience in the auto financial services industry, with knowledge of (or exposure to) portfolio, forecast, servicing operations in consumer finance preferred
- Working knowledge of visualization libraries in Python (e.g. bokeh, flask, Django, etc.)
- Analytical drive to break down complex problems, and a strong will to deliver results
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and competing objectives in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to display complex quantitative data in a simple, intuitive format and to present findings in a clear and concise manner
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
- Quick learner and critical thinker with demonstrated ability to initiate, develop and execute small to medium scale projects
- Work well within a team of analysts and collaborate with individuals with technical and non-technical backgrounds
- Ability to work effectively in fast paced environment with tight deadlines
