This is a senior-level Oracle Database Administrator. This role is primarily responsible for translating business requirements and functional specifications into technical requirements that support integrated and sustainable database systems. Viewed as the domain specialist for the team. Manages multiple, moderately complex projects and direct activities of a team related to special initiatives or operations. Routine accountability is for technical knowledge and capabilities as a team member or as an individual contributor. Works under minimal supervision, with general guidance from more highly skilled consultants or managers. Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results. This person must also develop and apply an in-depth understanding of company and industry best practice methodologies, policies, standards, and controls to participate in all database life management phases.

The Work Itself

  • Implement and administer Oracle databases within a multi-tiered environment.
  • Provides technical documentation, automation scripting, installation, monitoring, and troubleshooting across a large enterprise environment
  • Install, Configure and Manage Golden gate for data replication
  • Install, Configure and Manage RAC databases for high availability
  • Setting up and resolving issues with Oracle Data Guard environments
  • Provide support on all the stages of database implementation and/or database related deployments
  • Upgrade/Migrate databases from lower version to latest, from one OS platform to another.
  • Participate in project meetings, as necessary, to understand application and database requirements
  • Ability to work independently to resolve complex Oracle issues
  • Identify database performance bottlenecks and take appropriate corrective actions to improve database performance.
  • Proactive monitoring of the databases
  • Solve Oracle performance and non-performance related issues either independently or in conjunction with other DBAs
  • Manage backup/recovery for Oracle databases
  • Management of database and resource capacity planning.
  • Implement and enforce database security based upon standard methodology, SOX regulations, and company policies
  • Installation of new Oracle instances and upgrades
  • A weekly on-call rotation to maintain 7x24coverage
  • Experience in automation and scripting languages (Ansible, Python, Shell scripting, Perl)
  • Participate in cross-training and knowledge transfer with team members
  • Documentation and research of new technologies that are related to current and future team goals

The Skills You Bring

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, Ability to interact well with other teams
  • Minimum experience of 5+ years Oracle DBA required
  • Hands-on experience of install/configure/monitor/support Oracle 12c/19c databases.
  • Experience in Managing Databases in Cloud (AWS, OCI, GCP) and in-depth knowledge on various cloud database services and Migration methods.
  • Expert knowledge and experience with Oracle Golden Gate replication in solving latency issues with GoldenGate Extracts, Pumps and Replicats
  • In-Depth understanding and experience of Oracle RAC (12c and 19c), Oracle Dataguard & Dataguard broker
  • Experience with Oracle backup and recovery procedures using RMAN, Datapump.
  • In-Depth understanding of High Availability and Disaster Recovery requirements and solutions
  • Demonstrable experience installing and managing high availability production oracle database instances supporting OLTP applications.
  • Oracle Enterprise Manager 13c (OEM) experience
  • Expertise in Oracle Database Tuning, usage of diagnostic tools, AWR, ADDM, ASH and UNIX native commands for performance and scalability
  • Ability to provide technical documentation, automation scripting, installation, monitoring, and troubleshooting across a large enterprise environment
  • Database capacity planning
  • Oracle Database server internals
  • Proven track record in supporting large number of db simultaneously
  • Familiarity with Exadata Infrastructure
  • Strong production support experience & customer service skills and Sophisticated troubleshooting techniques in support of 24x7 On-call duties
  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture principles
  • Delphix
  • Experience with other relational database technologies (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB etc)
  • DevOps for Database Code deployments
  • Certifications in areas - Oracle DBA, AWS, ITIL
