The Opportunity

The Senior Analyst will work in Ally's Model Risk Management function under the direction of the Model Validation Director responsible for Qualified Analytical Tool (QAT) Validation. QATs are End-User Computing tools that support critical functions within Ally such as External Regulatory Reporting, Business Forecasting, Risk Appetite, Stress Testing, Pricing, Valuation, Capital, and Strategy. The Sr Analyst is responsible for delivering accurate, timely and relevant QAT validation reports, issue identification/remediation efforts, and provide feedback for the business lines to ensure best practices.

The following is a summary of the essential functions of this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below.

·  Perform independent QAT reviews of varying scope to assess the tool’s overall suitability for its intended purpose, construct, assumptions, data and calculations, conceptual soundness, functional reliability, and control environment effectiveness.
·        Thorough documentation of all review work via formal reports and maintenance of artifacts/workpapers
·        Create high quality QAT Validation reports that are consistently clear, factually accurate and concise.
·        Identify and document issues within QATs and evaluate remediation activity associated with findings.
·        Answer ad hoc QAT analysis requests from Model Governance and other internal partners.
·        Work collaboratively with the Business Line, Risk and other matrix teams to identify opportunities for improving Model Risk Management analysis, reporting and monitoring.
·        Directly support and assist in the duties of the Model Validation Director in publishing reports and analyses to all constituencies.
·        Interact with IT and other matrix partners to improve Model Risk Management and QAT Validation capabilities.
·        Support Model Governance initiatives such as delivering annual QAT validation plans, inventory, and scheduling updates.
·        Consistently push for reporting efficiency gains through use of technology driven automation and well-designed and documented processes.
·        Contribute to value-added risk identification and quantification analysis and reporting.
·        Continuously broaden and deepen expertise in analytical methods, coding, and tools via self-directed research and training.

The Skills You Bring

  • 3 years required. 4-7 years experience in banking or financial services with experience in Forecasting, Stress Testing, Balance Sheet Management, Liquidity or Risk management (e.g. Operational, Model, Credit, Market, Liquidity) preferred.
  •  Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a similar hard-science field.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting multiple programming languages with emphasis on SQL, Python or R.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel (including VBA), Word and PowerBI (including DAX & Power Query Editor)
  •  Advanced data management skills, documentation skills and orientation to accuracy and details.
  • Experience with control-based testing and/or evaluation
  • Excellent analytical skills and critical thinking ability to develop and execute strategic and tactical plans.
  • Excellent communication (technical writing and verbal), organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think thoroughly within end-to-end processes to see downstream and upstream impacts.
  • Experience with Nucleus, Snowflake, and/or AWS is preferred.
