The Opportunity

  • Reporting to the Director of Strategy and Analytics, this position's primary responsibilities will include managing alternative consumer credit decision strategy development and performance analysis for the Ally Auto Consumer Operations group. This individual will be leading a team focused on implementing and supporting various initiatives including alternative deal structures for underwriters and dealers, automated counteroffer, and inventory decisioning. The ideal candidate is passionate about delivering results, must be an innovative and strategic thinker, willing to challenge status quo, can learn quickly, is self-motivated and detail oriented. The position will lead a team and work with key leaders within the Auto Consumer Operations group, as well as partner groups such as finance, compliance, legal, risk and technology.

The Work Itself

    • Assist in developing and managing the roadmap for Alternative Decision Strategy team and prioritizing initiatives working with key stakeholders.
    • Lead a team focused on improving Ally Auto Consumer Operations by developing and supporting alternative decision strategies including alternative deal structures for underwriters and dealers, automated counteroffer, and dealer inventory decisioning.
    • Lead analytics around strategy performance and impacts to current credit decisioning, underwriter/dealer/consumer behavior and interactions, and alternative deal structure delivery capabilities and user experience.
    • Ensure daily/weekly/monthly team routines use sound control processes to effectively identify, assess, and manage risk.
    • Collaboratively work with matrix & vendor partners to ensure alignment with Ally’s strategic imperatives.
    • Influence the roadmap and priorities of other partner groups by proactive engagement on topics related to alternative decision strategy.

The Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Statistics, Economics, or a similar discipline with quantitative focus; master’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in and knowledge of consumer financing industry (e.g. auto, credit card, mortgage, etc.)
  • 4+ years of experience in a similar role focused on data/statistical analysis, ideally with experience in developing and analyzing strategies with a champion/challenger (test/control) framework.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of data mining and classification techniques leveraging SAS/SQL or similar tools for data analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present proposals and vision to executive leadership.
  • Experience working with (and ability to influence) matrix partners that impact change capability, such as IT, Compliance, Legal, Vendor Management and Operations.
  • Candidate should possess outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills; should be a critical thinker with strong attention to details.
  • Knowledge of statistics and quantitative models preferred.
  • Experience with data science software and machine learning tools a plus.
