The Opportunity
This role is on hybrid schedule a few days in office weekly in our DC office with some remote work.
We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Analyst to oversee day-to-day office operations, support Ally’s state and federal advocacy efforts, conduct research and prepare briefings. The Government Relations Analyst provides entry-level support to the company’s government relations and public policy activities. This role monitors legislative and regulatory developments at the federal and state levels, conducts basic research on policy issues, and helps track legislation and regulatory actions that may impact the organization. The analyst assists in preparing briefing materials, summaries, and internal updates for the government relations team and company leadership. Additionally, the role supports administrative and coordination efforts for meetings with policymakers, trade associations, and industry partners, helping ensure the team is well-prepared for external engagement and advocacy initiatives. The ideal candidate is organized, resourceful, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
The Work Itself
Office Operations
- Coordinate day-to-day office functions to ensure a smooth, efficient workplace, including overseeing vendors, submitting expenses, and ordering supplies.
- Submit, track, and process invoices.
Analyst Support
- Assist with federal, state, and local lobbying registration and disclosure filings, ensuring timely, accurate submissions in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain records and documentation for audits and compliance reviews; support responses to regulatory inquiries.
- Coordinate Ally’s engagement with relevant trade associations, including employee engagement, membership renewals, dues tracking, meeting schedules, and event logistics.
- Monitor association calls and provide key updates and action items for internal stakeholders.
- Track relevant state legislation and maintain the legislative tracking databases.
- Produce reports, dashboards, and summaries of legislative developments that could impact Ally; distribute timely alerts to stakeholders.
- Support research on policy issues, legislative calendars, hearings, and regulatory timelines.
- Liaise with senior business leaders, tax and finance, and legal and compliance personnel.
- Support Government Relations team in developing and executing the Ally Government Relations advocacy agenda.
The Skills You Bring
Minimum Qualifications
- 1 year of experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Public Affairs, Political Science, or related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in office management, operations, or administrative roles; experience in a government affairs, elected office, or trade association setting preferred.
- Familiarity with lobbying compliance requirements at federal and/or state levels a plus.
- Proficiency with office productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft 365), expense/invoice systems, and project management tools.
- Experience with legislative tracking platforms (e.g., Quorum, State Net, Fiscal Note) preferred
- Exceptional organization and time management; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
- Problem-solving mindset with ability to anticipate needs and drive continuous improvement.
- Discretion and integrity in handling sensitive information.
