The Opportunity

The Exceptions Specialist role is critical to ensure efficient, accurate and timely handling of exception items, ACH rejects, and prompt referral of suspicious activity to the Loss Prevention team to mitigate potential risk. The Exceptions Associate will also serve as a primary source to identify unusual customer activity, systemic processing concerns and kiting alerts.

This role is a hybrid role, 3 days in the office, 2 days at home.  
The hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 8am to 5:30pm EST (Sat 8am to 3pm EST)

The Work Itself

  • Review and properly decision the payment or return of Check and ACH rejected transactions within the prescribed file deadlines on a daily basis
  • Support Ally Bank Contact Center call volume related to rejected and/or suspended transactions including ACH, Zelle and transfer processing
  • Process the decision while minimizing risk to Ally Bank and providing a high level of customer service for those instances that warrant an exception
  • Review account activity for excessive deposit and withdrawals relative to kiting
  • Research and resolve rejected and/or suspended check, ACH, Zelle and transfer processing issues
  • Communicate daily to primary processing vendor via e-mail to ensure proper posting of Exception decision file and and suspense items
  • Review and process transactions based on daily exception reports on a daily basis
  • Perform various clerical and administrative functions

The Skills You Bring

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the field of electronic banking preferred
  • Experience working within and across multiple company locations, preferred
  • Bachelor Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience
