The Opportunity

The Economic Research Analyst will contribute to the company’s macroeconomic analysis and forecasting processes as a member of the Ally Economics team. This includes covering the U.S. and international economic data releases and contributing to the update of periodic economic publications. Responsibilities also include contributing to the econometric modeling processes and routines, including research & development, model diagnoses, execution, and control, that support companywide forecasting and scenario activities.

The Economic Research Analyst will work with economic and market data sets from various sources. The Analyst will work directly with business units, and risk management teams and must have strong communication skills.

The Work Itself

  • Economic release coverage
  • Econometric research and time-series analysis
  • Develop and operate econometric forecasting models
  • Contribute to the economic forecasting process
  • Support economic scenario generation processes

The Skills You Bring

  • Master of Science in Economics required
  • Graduate-level academic experience or 2-3 business years of experience in the following areas:
    • Econometrics
    • Economic & business forecasting
    • Macroeconometrics, Microeconometrics, or Financial econometrics
  • Strong experience with econometric tools and methods such as SAS, R, Eviews, and STATA
  • Experience using coding languages such as Python preferred
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills
