The Opportunity

The Director of Operations – Bethesda, Maryland (the “Director”) generally has 12 plus years’ experience managing core Operations functions for middle market leveraged loans including Agented and Non Agented deals   for a bank or commercial lending organization.  This position is responsible for providing management oversight for all aspects of Loan Operations located in Bethesda Maryland, including Loan Servicing and Loan Closing functions. 

 Individuals at this level are subject matter experts in all aspects of Loan Operations and provide direction in workflow activities, processes and controls.  The Director  interacts with Operations team members as well as all levels of management within Ally CF and is responsible for ensuring daily Loan Servicing and  Loan Closing activities are performed in accordance with policies, procedures in a timely and accurate manner.  Responsibilities also include  guidance in loan closing mechanics and timeframes as required by the business line.  This position will work with other mangers in the Loan Operations function in reviewing and refining “Best Practices” and be  instrumental in attracting, retaining and building a strong operations team in the Bethesda office. The Director ensures the team is properly staffed to support the Health Care and Lender Finance businesses and capable of providing redundant support for all loan closing and loan servicing functions in the event of a disaster recovery scenario or in peak processing times. 

The Director is responsible for dealing with all internal and external audit requirements with a strong knowledge of Operational Procedure, Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) and Risk frameworks and controls.  This position is responsible for ensuring team members are properly trained in their day to day functions, workload distribution is equitable and completed within target timeframes.  Goals and Objectives are reviewed with senior management and aligned with New York  Operations.

 The Director is a  key contributor to team successes.  Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to professionally interact with all levels of internal and external contacts. This individual must have an excellent working knowledge of Loan IQ or other Commercial Lending Loan Syndication systems.    

The Work Itself

Provide management oversight for all Loan Closing and Loan Servicing responsibilities for the Health Care and Lender Finance businesses. Responsibilities include:

·         Monitor the flow of new deals, loan modifications and payoffs to ensure team Operational readiness, funds availability and   ability to handle multiple deals during peak periods.

·         Work closely with the Operations Manager in Bethesda to ensure daily Loan Servicing activities are performed accurately, within established timeframes and in an equitable manner.

·         Monitor all Loan Operations reporting to ensure exceptions are identified, addressed and escalated  to senior management as necessary.

·         Work Closely with the New York Operations Team to ensure adherence to established procedures that are consistently aligned and share best practices as applicable across Ally CF Operations.

·         Actively prepare for and participate in the month/quarter end closing process to ensure  loan balances and income statement items are accurately reported.

·         Participate in periodic review of Operations Policies and Procedures including appropriate user training manuals of both internal and external systems enabling a consistent operations process.  This process will also include a review of key procedures with Operations team members to enable and ensure overall Audit and SOX compliance.

·         Ensure team readiness for providing redundant back-up operations for the New York Loan Servicing and Loan Closing functions including providing back-up during peak processing periods or addressing any potential disruption in processing activities with  New York Operations.

·         Ensure team readiness for all internal and external audits to achieve satisfactory results.


The Skills You Bring

·         12 Plus years of Operational experience in the Loan Servicing and Loan Closing aspects of deal relationships in the capacity of both Lead Agent and Non Agent roles, Cash reconciliation and handling of Letters of Credit

·         BA or BS in Accounting, Finance or Information Systems.

·         Excellent communication, verbal, written, interpersonal and organization skills.

·         Highly analytical, detail oriented with problem solving capability.

·         High level of accountability and the ability to effectively prioritize tasks.

·         Highly motivated, self-starter.

Technical: Computer literate, including: Word, Excel, Power Point.
