The Opportunity
Director of Process Optimization and Strategy will lead a high-impact team focused on simplifying complex, multi-stage workflows and delivering measurable operational outcomes across Ally Insurance. This role partners with senior business and technology leaders to define and execute a process optimization roadmap that improves efficiency, mitigates risk, and elevates both the customer and employee experience. Success in this role includes incorporating optimization frameworks into existing delivery routines, establishing performance baselines, implementing KPI-driven governance, and driving adoption of best-in-class optimization practices to achieve sustainable, quantifiable results.
The Work Itself
- Own and evolve a long-term process optimization roadmap for the insurance business, ensuring operational improvements align with broader digital transformation goals.
- Lead and facilitate cross-functional workshops (e.g., value stream mapping and journey mapping) to synthesize complex, multi-stage workflows into clear problem statements, co-create improvement and automation solutions, and secure leadership commitment.
- Validate & enhance proposed business cases to be comprehensive, quantifying value of process improvement solutions focusing on revenue growth, expense reduction, risk mitigation, and measurable lifts in customer/employee satisfaction.
- Lead a high-performing team of process analysts and orchestrate with cross-functional teams within Operations, Product, Technology, Risk, and Data teams to outline investment needs, and implementation timelines.
- Pilot and scale low-code solutions, RPA automations, decision support engines, and AI-driven metrics to enhance operational agility and reduce manual tasks.
- Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes to senior executives through clear narratives, dashboards, and executive-ready materials; ensure projects land measurable value on time and within scope.
The Skills You Bring
Minimum Qualifications
- 9+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- High school Diploma or GED equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in process optimization/operations strategy within financial services preferred, direct exposure to dealership insurance, vehicle service contracts, or adjacent auto finance/insurance operations preferred.
- Proven track record leading cross-functional transformations from discovery to value realization, including benefits quantification, roadmap creation, and successful implementation.
- Exceptional ability to understand and communicate complex, multi-stage processes to technical and non-technical audiences; skilled at simplifying complexity and building consensus.
- Excellent presentation skills: ability to conduct presentations to individuals and groups including executive leadership.
- Demonstrated leadership of small teams and matrixed technical squads preferred; adept at stakeholder management across technology, operations, compliance/risk, vendor management, and executive leadership.
- Data-driven decision-making: experience defining KPIs, building business cases, and using analytics to monitor performance; proficiency with common analytics/visualization tools preferred.
- Strong change management and organizational design acumen, including role clarity, RACI, training/adoption, and governance to sustain operational gains.
- Bachelor's degree in related field preferred, MBA is ideal.
