Ally and Your Career

Ally Financial only succeeds when its people do - and that’s more than some cliché people put on job postings. We live this stuff! We see our people as, well, people - with interests, families, friends, dreams, and causes that are all important to them. Our focus is on the health and safety of our teammates as well as work-life balance and diversity and inclusion. From generous benefits to a variety of employee resource groups, we strive to build paths that encourage employees to stretch themselves professionally. We want to help you grow, develop, and learn new things. You’re constantly evolving, so shouldn’t your opportunities be, too?

Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. Your hiring manager will discuss this role's specific work requirements with you during the hiring process. All work requirements are subject to change at any time based on leader discretion and/or business need.

The Opportunity

Ally is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fraud Strategy Director to join our Fraud Prevention team. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for supporting strategic initiatives that originate outside of the fraud organization, however, will also have responsibility of supporting Fraud led strategic initiatives. This role is an integral stakeholder in cross functional projects – often led by product and digital teams – where fraud considerations must be balanced with business growth objectives. You will serve as a strategic advisor and control expert, influencing initiative design and execution to mitigate fraud risk while enabling innovation and customer centric growth through assessing fraud risks, evaluating operational impacts, and fulfilling key project responsibilities. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of fraud prevention and the ability to collaborate effectively across various departments.

In office role with hybrid schedule, Ally work locations are Charlotte NC, Fort Washington PA or Lewisville TX

The Work Itself

  • Partnering with cross-functional teams to support growth initiatives from a fraud lens.
  • Acting as the fraud subject matter expert, providing guidance on fraud risks and prevention controls throughout the initiative lifecycle – from discovery to execution.

  • Providing fraud loss impact analysis input to strategic business cases.
  • Participation in New Product risk reviews
  • Work closely with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
Fraud Risk Assessment:
  • Proactively identify potential fraud risks in early state business proposals and designs through conducting comprehensive fraud risk assessments and necessary controls to mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with project teams to integrate fraud prevention measures into project plans.
Operational Impact Evaluation:
  • Analyze the operational impacts of proposed projects and initiatives.
  • Assess fraud subject matter expertise or production staff requirements to ensure adequate resources are in place.
  • Ensure that fraud prevention strategies align with operational goals and do not hinder business processes.
  • Provide recommendations to optimize both fraud prevention and operational efficiencies
Product Delivery and Customer Experience:
  • Ensure that products are delivered with the right fraud controls to protect both Ally and our customers.
  • Balance the need for robust fraud controls with the goal of maintaining a positive and seamless customer journey.
  • Identify and monitor success metrics.
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Serve as a liaison between the Fraud Prevention team and other departments.
  • Communicate fraud risk assessments and prevention strategies to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Foster a culture of fraud awareness and prevention across the organization.
Strategic Planning:
  • Develop and implement long-term fraud prevention strategies that support the organization's goals.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and emerging fraud threats to proactively address potential risks.
  • Continuously improve fraud prevention methodologies and tools.
