The Opportunity

We're looking for a passionate Data Science leader with great communication skills for our Auto Consumer Asset Management group. This person will conduct complex analytics projects, studies, and experiments, and create data science products to surface insights and drive business strategy related to Consumer Auto portfolio.  Reporting to the leader of Consumer Asset Management Analytics, this position will focus on improving usage of scores and models (third party and internal), build predictive models and work with business strategy teams to optimize, coach and develop analytics talent at Ally. The Work Itself

  • Apply rigorous quantitative techniques to build and/or test predictive models and scores for usage in portfolio management / servicing functions (internally developed or vendor sourced)
  • Heavy emphasis on advanced coding and ability to create predictive and statistical models from the ground up
  • Expertise in not only data science / quantitative techniques, but also knows how consumer lending portfolios perform, able to identify factors influencing credit risk and incorporate in to models
  • Collaboratively work with matrix & vendor partners to ensure alignment with Ally’s strategic imperatives; build and maintain a strong relationship with various matrix organizations (risk management, data management, strategy and operations)

The Skills You Bring

  • 7+ years professional experience in data science, statistical modeling, and analytics areas with experience building custom models from ground up (probability of payment, probability of default etc.)
  • 5+ years professional experience in consumer financing industry (e.g. auto, card, mortgage etc.)
  • Masters Degree in a quantitative discipline (Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science etc.)
  • Experience with logistic regression, decision trees, survival analysis, mathematical program is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present proposals and results to executive leadership
  • Experience working with (and ability to influence) matrix partners that impact change capability, such as IT, Compliance, Legal, Vendor Management and Operations
  • Candidate should possess outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills; should be a critical thinker with strong attention to details
  • Experience in automotive servicing industry, especially in collections, loss prevention, recovery areas is a plus
  • A Principal role can be considered for the right candidate with lesser experience
