Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. Your hiring manager will discuss this role's specific work requirements with you during the hiring process. All work requirements are subject to change at any time based on leader discretion and/or business need.

The Opportunity

This role is on a hybrid schedule and can be based out of our Charlotte or NYC office only. 

The Director - Credit Risk is an individual contributor role and is responsible for conducting complex analysis and in-depth research on credit risk management issues across Ally's middle market leveraged loan portfolio to assist Independent Risk Management (IRM) execute its responsibilities. IRM's responsibilities include providing an objective, critical assessment of risks and evaluation of whether Ally remains aligned with its risk appetite and risk limits. The analysis and research include reviewing and evaluating adherence to credit risk policies and procedures, credit decisioning methods used, developing and publishing credit risk related reporting on portfolio trends and measures, and drafting presentations to communicate conclusions to all levels of management.

IRM maintains and implements Ally's risk management framework and independently oversees risk-taking activities, sets parameters representative of a strong risk culture that encourages an informed, measured, disciplined, and balanced approach to risk-taking and fair and honest treatment of customers, counterparties, and employees.

The Work Itself

  • Credibly challenge and advise the Corporate Finance Business Line with respect to the management of risks
  • Independently identify, assess, measure, mitigate, control, monitor, test, report, and escalate risks
  • Set the criteria and independently test Business Line credit policy adherence and control effectiveness
  • Conduct ad-hoc analytics and manage various other independent projects
  • Support and execute a risk-based annual testing and monitoring plan; report on results and escalate issues as necessary
  • Review and challenge Business Line credit policies, standards, and procedures

 

The Skills You Bring


  • 3+ years of operational work experience underwriting and/or portfolio management of middle market leveraged deal structures including agented or non-agented deal types for a bank or commercial lending organization required
  • 7 year minimum years experience required
  • Utilizes a working knowledge of PIK, Skim, Non-Performing deal dynamics, Letters of Credit, First/Last Out Unitranche Deal arrangements and more complex deal scenarios
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and organizational skills
  • High level of personal integrity, with the ability to handle matters professionally, and with the appropriate level of judgement and maturity
  • Advanced consultative skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships with all levels of an organization
  • Proven ability to manage issues through to resolution; skilled at making sound judgment calls
  • Strong presence to interact with senior management, regulators, affiliates, and other third parties
  • Highly analytical, detail oriented with problem solving capability
  • Ability to work independently with demonstrated strong time management skills
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams

Base Pay Range: $135000 - $235000 USD
An individual's position in the range is determined by the specific role, the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications. We review internal pay, the competitive market, and business environment prior to extending an offer. 
Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan.
