Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. Your hiring manager will discuss this role's specific work requirements with you during the hiring process. The Opportunity

This role is on a hybrid schedule in our Detroit, MI location only, in office a few days weekly with some remote work. 

The Community Affairs Director  is an individual contributor role will serve as the primary community engagement representative for the company in the Detroit and Lewisville markets.  This roles builds and maintains strong relationships with local nonprofits, civic organizations and community leaders, while managing the company's charitable giving and local partnerships.  The Director will also evaluate nonprofit proposals, participate in community events, and help shape the company's local reputation as a responsible and engaged corporate citizen.

The Work Itself

  • Act as the local face of the company in Detroit and Lewisville, representing the organization at community events, nonprofit meetings, and civic gatherings
  •  Build and maintain trusted relationships with nonprofit partners, local officials, and community stakeholders
  •  Identify community needs and opportunities where the company can make a meaningful impact
  • Review, evaluate, and recommend nonprofit funding proposals across a range of program areas
  •  Evaluate funding requests to ensure compliance with company policies and alignment with giving priorities
  • Manage the end-to-end process for charitable giving, including proposal review, due diligence, recommendation, and post-award monitoring
  • Track and measure the impact of funded programs and ensure compliance with company and regulatory guidelines
  •  Maintain accurate records of all charitable giving activity and community investments. 
  • Collaborate with internal business partners to align community investments with company priorities and regional strategies
  • Provide regular updates and impact summaries to leadership and Corporate Citizenship teams
  • Monitor local trends, emerging issues, and opportunities in the nonprofit and civic landscape
  •  Contribute to the development of annual community investment plans and budgets for the assigned markets
  • Accurately forecast charitable spend for future budget planning
  •  Represent the company in local nonprofit networks, advisory councils, and collaborative initiatives
  • Support community events via select speaking opportunities

The Skills You Bring

  • 7 years of experience in Corporate Citizenship, Community Relations, Community Development , Community or private foundation , and/or relevant non-profit 
  • Bachelor's degree required, Masters preferred
  • Experience in managing charitable giving or sponsorship programs
  • Passion for giving back showcased through work with nonprofit organizations as an employee or volunteer
  • Strong editing and writing skills
  • Strong knowledge of the nonprofit and civic landscape in Detroit 
  • Strong analytical skills, comfort with research and reporting
  • Strong work-ethic
  • Ability to work on a deadline and conduct research on various issues in a timely manner
  • Agility to work on several projects at once, as needed
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint and grants management platforms are a plus
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus

Base Pay Range: $125000 - $190000 USD
An individual's position in the range is determined by the specific role, the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications. We review internal pay, the competitive market, and business environment prior to extending an offer. 
Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan.
