The Opportunity

Ally Lending partners with merchants other third parties to offer consumer loans for healthcare and for home renovation and repair projects.    This role lead risk program activities, vendor relationships, models and tools focused on risk assessment, due diligence and onboarding of new merchants, resellers, multi-lender platforms and other third parties (TPSRs) that support loan origination through Ally’s point-of-sale consumer lending business.

The Work Itself

  • Define risk eligibility requirements for merchants and other third parties to participate in the Lending Program. 
  • Ensure accurate categorization of TPSRs based on risk-generating activities, Establish intake requirements and measure risk level for prospective merchants / TPSRs. 
  • Oversee / coordinate due diligence and underwriting process for new merchants / TPSRs including financial review, reputational review, OFAC screening, professional Licensing, and Information protection.    
  • Drive requirements for merchant risk assessment / due diligence through 3rd party service providers and Ally Lending platform.  Develop / maintain third-party vendors / data furnishers that support the underwriting and due diligence process.  Serve as relationship owner for key vendors.
  • Coordinate closely with other Lending teams (including Sales, credit risk, Pricing, implementation, legal, fraud, etc.) to ensure that assessment and onboarding processes for new Merchants / TPSRs operates efficiently and effectively.
  • Work with Sales and legal teams to ensure contract language is aligned with TPSR activities and risk levels. 
  • Hire, lead and develop a team of analysts and mangers; define team roles, manage capacity and performance to ensure necessary work is completed and deadlines are met. 
  • Leverage technical knowledge and experience to solve complex problems in support of Risk objectives
  • Support other projects, initiatives, programs, and analysis, as required by business needs.   

The Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field. MBA or advanced degree is ideal.
  • 7-10 years experience in financial services; experience leading client risk or third-party risk programs, and tools / platforms that support those programs. 3 or more years experience managing teams of professionals.
  • Experience in merchant risk, dealer risk, or onboarding commercial clients is preferred.
  • Understanding of Ally risk framework and consumer Lending regulation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work effectively and coordinate work across multiple teams
  • Experience in building Business Intelligence reports using PowerBI, Tableau or similar tools
  • Detail-oriented, deadline driven, self-directed and organized individual
  • Proficient with Microsoft PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Ability to depict complex information in an organized and clear fashion.
