Ally and Your Career

Ally Financial only succeeds when its people do - and that’s more than some cliché people put on job postings. We live this stuff! We see our people as, well, people - with interests, families, friends, dreams, and causes that are all important to them. Our focus is on the health and safety of our teammates as well as work-life balance and diversity and inclusion. From generous benefits to a variety of employee resource groups, we strive to build paths that encourage employees to stretch themselves professionally. We want to help you grow, develop, and learn new things. You’re constantly evolving, so shouldn’t your opportunities be, too?

The Opportunity

At Ally, you get a startup feel, but experience the benefits of a company that’s worked out the kinks and is fulfilling its purpose. We’re always evolving and see that as a good thing. From owning our work to seeing its impact in the real world, our team is relentless in finding new ways technology can help make experiences better and help people. We are problem solvers, we value diverse thinking, we support one another, and we challenge ourselves to think bigger in the journey to deliver customer-obsessed tech solutions.

As Ally is making a significant investment in growing and improving our digital experiences and foundation, we will be consolidating and enhancing our customer facing authentication experience. It’s critical that the Digital business team is closely aligned with the technology teams through this experience. The Digital Product Owner for Customer Authentication UI will work across multiple lines of business to help to identify, plan and work through the implementation for Ally’s target state for customer enrollment and authentication. This person will be key in understanding existing roadmaps across multiple Product Owners to identify the optimal experience that balance security and customer friction.

This successful candidate will work closely with other product owners, web and mobile developers, and partners too. As a product owner, this person will work actively across additional stakeholder teams, including operations, call center, deposits, auto, risk, compliance, and legal, and will be responsible for working with those teams strategically and tactically to ensure strong alignment and partnership.

The Work Itself

The Digital Product Owner is responsible for gathering, documenting, and providing business requirements, system requirement specification reviews, analytics requirements, and user acceptance testing for projects and releases that impact the digital channels.

  • Develop the digital roadmap and strategy in partnership with business partners and stakeholders. Demonstrate product economics and value proposition alignment.
  • Operate as subject matter expert for digital security.
  • Ensure all regulatory and legal requirements are met while creating and maintaining a positive and productive workplace.
  • Manage an agile team comprised of developers and testers
  • Drive product planning (ongoing and annual), monthly business reviews and supplier management routines with key support partners.
  • Translate roadmap into executable tasks for delivery. Work with internal and external delivery partners to ensure prioritization of enhancements.
  • Monitor competitor efforts to drive customer loyalty; identify opportunities for Ally to differentiate vs. the competition and in the overall marketplace.
  • Understand voice of the customers and creating countermeasures to address customer feedback.
  • Present updates and status to senior management.

The Skills You Bring

  • 3-5+ years of experience as a Product Owner, operating in an agile environment including creating stories and refining the backlog, working with developers to understand short and long term vision, identifying and resolving roadblocks, and partnering with other teams to deliver on commitments
  • Experience in authentication or digital security is required
  • Ability to translate strategic vision into requirements for UX designers
  • Experience working with technology teams with a strong understanding of how these work together to create strong customer experiences
  • Effective communication across all levels of the organization and a spirit of building strong business and team relationships is essential
  • Well-organized and thorough approach; able to structure, analyze, and answer major business questions, balancing multiple requests and competing priorities
  • Highly adaptable and experienced working in a dynamic work environment
  • Understanding of web development and mobile development a plus
  • Experience in digital or an online banking environment is desired
