The Opportunity
The Corporate Communications Specialist will be responsible for assisting the team in planning, writing and executing strategic communications on a variety of topics to advance Ally's business goals as a purpose-driven company. A successful candidate will have strong writing capabilities and be a storyteller at heart. At the same, time, the specialist will help develop communications plans and presentations that are data-driven and be comfortable with numbers and analytics. A successful candidate will have a healthy curiosity to investigate, evaluate and build out additional capabilities in keeping with industry best practices. Familiarity with social media, blog writing and online publishing is a plus. This is an opportunity with lots of opportunity to learn about the business and grow in responsibilities.
The Work Itself
- Develop and implement proactive internal communications that support the goals of the business.
- Collaborate to provide strategic and tactical communications support, including developing communications plans, writing internal communications pieces, and leadership messages.
- Keeps abreast of latest trends and best practices in both the internal and external media sphere.
- Enjoy working with data and drive business partners' understanding of usage patterns and trends through interpretation of metrics and data-driven research, helping them incorporate it into their communication strategies.
- Explore and experiment with employee-to-employee information sharing and collaboration solutions.
- Provide back-up in day-to-day publishing of content to intranet portal, distribution of mass communications, as needed, often in high-pressure situations.
- Foster strong collaboration and teamwork among the Internal Communications and HR teams and cross-functionally to achieve the best outcomes.
- Build and cultivate strong relationships with client groups and key subject matter experts to develop appropriate messages and outcomes.
- Assist with internal events and work with partners to ensure high standards and excellent quality is delivered in terms of content, environment and logistics.
- Demonstrate resilience and flexibility and willingness to explore different paths to achieve an outcome and adjust quickly and efficiently to new circumstances.
- Call attention to risks and challenges what does not seem right.
The Skills You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or business preferred.
- 1+ years of experience in a similar communications role
- Knowledge of AP style, excellent news/business/feature writing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work on teams, think boldly and adjust planning as needed.
- Understands completely and complies with the highest level of ethical judgment.
- Self-starter and detail-oriented.
- Strong ability to manage and prioritize multiple deliverables.
- Ability to foster collaborative work relationships with people at all organizational levels.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
