The Opportunity

The Sr Analyst, Invest Analytics is responsible for turning data into insights for the Invest line of business at Ally.  The role's function is to work alongside with a team of business analysts and data scientists to improve all facets of business performance: service, marketing, trading, operations, client experience, compliance, pricing, and business development, etc.  This position reports to the Manager, Invest Analytics.  The ideal candidate should have a strong focus on attention to detail, expertise with relational databases/structures and data analysis, and have a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvements.

The Work Itself

  • Work with multiple business partners to evaluate Ally Invest performance and profitability, define appropriate metrics, research changes in trends, and perform a variety of ad hoc analysis of hot topics
  • Partner with engineering, data management, and reporting teams to ensure appropriate data flows for business needs
  • Study client behavior and recommend changes to product, process, pricing, and promotions
  • Engage with business partners such as marketing, trading, operations and digital to solve pressing business questions with data and insights
  • Maintain an active pulse on the marketplace of emerging practices and technologies

The Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative filed such as Mathematics, Statics, Computer Science, Finance, Economics or related filed. 
  • 3+ years' experience in similar or equivalent position preferred.
  • Self-motivated and capable of delivering results with minimal ongoing direction
  • 3+ years of hands-on technical experience, including developing data visualization work products, such as dashboards or reports, using Power BI or Looker, data analysis, marketing analytics, or quantitative analysis required
  • Minimum 2 years of practical experience working with large datasets with SQL knowledge.
  • Proven experience to work in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment with the ability to seek clarification, define priority and drive focus of execution
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to work with people at all levels
  • Hands-on experience working with a big-data grade environment (e.g., Hadoop, AWS)
  • Working knowledge in machine learning tool kits running on prem or on AWS, such as R/RStudio, Python/Jupyter Notebook, SAS Viya, Anaconda, Amazon Sagemaker, or DataRobot, etc. 
  • Experience in brokerage or advisory firm preferred, but not required
