Ally and Your Career

Ally Financial only succeeds when its people do - and that’s more than some cliché people put on job postings. We live this stuff! We see our people as, well, people - with interests, families, friends, dreams, and causes that are all important to them. Our focus is on the health and safety of our teammates as well as work-life balance and diversity and inclusion. From generous benefits to a variety of employee resource groups, we strive to build paths that encourage employees to stretch themselves professionally. We want to help you grow, develop, and learn new things. You’re constantly evolving, so shouldn’t your opportunities be, too?

Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. Your hiring manager will discuss this role's specific work requirements with you during the hiring process. All work requirements are subject to change at any time based on leader discretion and/or business need.

The Opportunity

This director will drive stronger change management across Consumer Bank by improving how changes are communicated, sequenced, deployed, adopted, and sustained. They will embed practical change management disciplines into delivery and operating model work, while helping leaders and teams understand what is changing, why it matters, how it impacts them, and how they are expected to work differently.

At this time, Ally will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.

The Work Itself

Embed the Product Operating Model into Delivery

  • Support the implementation of the Product Operating Model in translating defined roles, standards, and practices into day-to-day team execution
  • Ensure alignment between Product, Technology, PMO, and Operations
  • Integrate new ways of working into value stream and initiative execution

Build a Repeatable Change Management Discipline

  • Establish lightweight standards, tools, and routines for change impact assessment, stakeholder mapping, readiness planning, communications, adoption support, and post-launch reinforcement
  • Help initiative teams identify what will be different for impacted associates, customers, processes, systems, controls, and ways of working and create clear, plain-language narratives to explain the change to the impacted audience and other stakeholders
  • Define the minimum change management expectations for major Consumer Bank initiatives, scaled appropriately based on size, risk, and audience impact
  • Reinforce a consistent approach to change without creating unnecessary process burden or slowing delivery

Integrate Adoption into Execution

  • Embed change management practices into delivery processes
  • Partner on capacity management and prioritization
  • Optimize change sequencing and saturation

Manage Change Sequencing, Capacity & Saturation

  • Maintain visibility into major Consumer Bank changes across operating model, strategic initiatives, process, and organizational change initiatives
  • Assess timing, audience overlap, dependency risk, and cumulative impact to reduce change fatigue and avoid poorly sequenced deployments
  • Partner with leaders to prioritize, phase, or adjust change activity when teams are facing too much change at once

Establish Feedback Loops & Continuous Improvement

  • Capture insights from teams and gaps in roles, capabilities, or processes
  • Partner with Product CoP and leadership to continuously improve change management discipline and practices in Consumer Bank

Measure Adoption, Sentiment & Effectiveness

  • Define adoption, readiness, and effectiveness indicators for major changes
  • Monitor whether teams understand the change, feel prepared for it, and are using new processes, tools, or ways of working as intended
  • Use feedback, survey themes, pulse checks, delivery outcomes, and operational metrics to identify where change is not landing well
  • Provide leadership reporting and insights that connect change management activity to adoption, employee experience, delivery effectiveness, and business outcomes
