The Opportunity
As a Business Intelligence Senior Analyst, you will develop high-impact data analytics, BI, and AI/ML solutions that directly drive business strategies. Partnering with senior management, you will engineer advanced performance insights and deploy scalable data solutions utilizing Snowflake and Python. This role focuses on building and monitoring robust reporting and modeling frameworks using SQL and Power BI to support the Auto Digital, Data Science, and Strategy Asset Management teams. Additionally, 1+ years of experience in data science, feature engineering, and ML engineering is preferable.
The Work Itself
- Lead the design, development, and support of business intelligence and analytics solutions for Ally’s Auto Digital, Strategy, and Asset Management teams.
- Plan, implement, and execute strategic initiatives to transform data capabilities across Strategy, Digital, and Data Science.
- Partner with senior leaders, product managers, strategy analysts, engineers (data/analytics/ML), and software developers to identify needs, gather requirements, and deliver impactful data and data science solutions.
- Mentor a team of business intelligence and data management analysts.
- Prioritize, plan, and drive data science projects from use-case identification through model implementation, deployment, and monitoring.
- Design, build, and maintain production-grade AI/ML solutions on major cloud platforms.
- Lead the design and delivery of executive and portfolio dashboards using tools such as Power BI, dbt, Snowflake, and Python.
- Develop analytical tools and data products for internal stakeholders using Python, Power BI, and related technologies.
- Act as a data product owner: prioritize data stories, manage sprints with data engineering and enterprise IT, and ensure high-quality data product delivery.
- Extract and integrate data from traditional warehouses, big data ecosystems, and cloud warehouses to support analytics, reporting, and modeling.
- Apply data warehousing principles to build reporting data marts in Oracle and cloud databases (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift).
- Utilize advanced SQL and Python to build data tables, models, and reports; design and maintain automated and self-service reporting solutions.
- Establish reusable feature stores, model registries, and experimentation frameworks to accelerate AI solution delivery for Model building
- Participate in the design and implementation of logical and physical data models.
- Ensure stability, performance, and support of production reporting; meet data demands across analytics teams.
The Skills You Bring
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years experience in customer service or financial services industry
- Bachelor's degree in business related discipline
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior leadership experience is preferred.
- Ability to perform technical based activities.
- Knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles and concepts.
- Leveraging technical expertise and relationships to contribute to strategy and drive business results.
- Ability to produce documents, spreadsheets, databases, etc. with Windows-based software, as well as proficiency with the Internet, ideally this will include experience with Six Sigma-based software.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Business, or related field
- Industry experience: 5+ years in Consumer Finance or related industry
- Data visualization/BI: 3+ years with Power BI or similar BI tools
- Databases and data warehousing: 5+ years with relational and cloud data warehouses (Oracle, Teradata, Hadoop, Snowflake, Redshift)
- SQL: 5+ years writing complex/advanced SQL and PL/SQL; data layer curation
- Programming/Scripting: 3+ years with Python or R; scheduling scripts to automate data pipelines
- Data extraction/analysis: 3+ years using SQL/Python across various warehouses
- Cloud platforms: Experience with AWS; 1–2 years in Snowflake; Snowflake/AWS environment exposure a plus
- Data architecture: Functional knowledge of data architecture patterns; strong understanding of data warehousing
- AI/ML: Strong foundational knowledge of data science and feature engineering is a plus.
- Analytics and problem solving: Strong analytical drive; ability to break down complex problems and deliver results
- Communication: Excellent verbal/written communication; can present complex quantitative data clearly; effective with business and technical stakeholders
- Ways of working: Quick learner; critical thinker; able to initiate and execute small to medium projects; collaborates well across technical and non-technical teams
- Adaptability: Comfortable with ambiguity, competing objectives, tight deadlines, and fast-paced environments
