The Opportunity

Responsible for audit project management, resource management, and relationship management within the Risk Management functions at Ally Financial. The Director will assess risk and oversee the development of efficient and effective audit plans; conclude and report on the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, governance and risk management; develop annual/quarterly audit plans; and execute on the overall strategy of the Audit function

The Work Itself

  • Direct the overall execution and completion of concurrently assigned large and/or complex audit projects on a timely basis.
  • The Director will be primarily focused on activities within Enterprise Resilience (Operational Resilience, Third Party Risk), Enterprise Risk (Policies and Governance, Risk Reporting and Escalation, New Products, etc.), Operational Risk (RCSA, Issue Management, Testing and Monitoring, etc.), Model Risk, Corporate Insurance, and Environmental Sustainability Risk including Conduct Risk and Reputational Risk.
  • Direct the audit focus to key risks and ensure efficient - effective delivery with the highest quality, in compliance with professional standards and audit policies.
  • Accountable for successful delivery of Audit Services' mission and objectives for their teams.
  • Responsible for timely and quality completion of assigned segment of the audit plan, ensuring audit engagements are conducting according to Ally Audit Services policies and procedures.
  • Concludes and reports on the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and risk management.
  • Establishes relationships with business leaders, developing strong relationships with audit clients.
  • May design, manage or oversee a Center of Excellence (CoE) for Audit Services.
  • Participates and presents in meetings with regulators and other external parties.
  • Negotiates audit findings with senior management.
  • Develops staff through timely feedback and coaching.
  • Manages multiple direct reports.

The Skills You Bring

  • 7+ years of related experience in auditing with increasing responsibility over time, including directing and leading teams. 
  • In-depth experience in internal audit with risk management related audit experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field with a higher degree in related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of risk management concepts and relevant risk-based integrated process auditing.
  • Demonstrated ability for understanding the relationship between audit risk assessment and audit objectives.
  • Sound communication skills, both verbal and written, to promote report quality and foster positive working relationships with business management.
  • Strong analytical - problem solving skills.
  • Multi-tasking experience in a dynamic organization with a detailed oriented with a roll up the sleeves attitude.
  • Performing risk and control analysis and experience in flowcharting and process mapping.
  • Proficient in Team Mate, MS-Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Flowcharting software.
  • Knowledge of COSO, FFIEC, and SOX.
  • Knowledge of data mining and analytical tools preferred (ACL, IDEA, MS Access).
