The Opportunity
Reporting to the Sr. Supervisor, Accounting Operations, the Associate Business Analyst is a key member of the Insurance Accounting Operations team and performs a wide variety of journal entries, reconciliations, internal controls, reporting and analytics and assigned projects. Characteristics of an ideal candidate include strong work ethic, eagerness to learn, critical thinking with the ability to grasp new skills quickly and a desire to contribute. This role is a hybrid position with 3 days in our Schaumburg, Illinois office and 2 days work from home.
The Work Itself
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations and analyses.
- Invoice entry, verification, distribution.
- Prepare statutory and other accounting reports.
- Prepare internal control and financial information requests.
- Participate in accounting and technology projects by providing requirements, testing and creating process documentation.
- Support the department's compliance with internal controls, governance, vendor management.
- Develop strong relationships with internal and external business partners.
- Creating and maintaining desktop procedures.
- Perform or lead projects as assigned.
The Skills You Bring
- BA/BS in Business, Finance or Accounting required, CPA or MBA preferred
- 1 year of relevant experience preferred
- Experience with accounting systems preferred (e.g. Coupa, SAP, Blackline)
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft applications Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (vlookups, pivot tables).
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong attention to detail with critical thinking, analytical and organization skills.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
