The Opportunity
The Accountant II within Ally’s Debt Accounting & Securitization Operations (DASO) organization plays a critical role in providing accurate, timely, and relevant financial information, advice, and transaction support to key stakeholders of the company's largest operating unit. The candidate would be directly responsible for the whole loan daily cash movements, accounting, and investor reporting, as well as reporting on system refinements and updates applicable to DASO. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a talented team focused on working efficiently to promote work/life balance is strongly preferred. This position reports to the DASO Accounting Director.
The Work Itself
- Accountable for journal entries and account reconciliations to support securitization accounting and reporting.
- Engage in investor report creation, review, and distribution, ensuring servicing activity results are accurate and timely.
- Coordinate daily cash movements, monthly activities, and address whole loan servicing questions with internal customers and whole loan investors.
- Drive necessary securitization system changes and overall process transparency/documentation.
- Responsible for legal entity accounting, review, and analysis.
- Present monthly and quarterly results to leadership.
- Collaborate with business partners to ensure all funding initiatives and objectives are successful.
- Drive special projects and address ad hoc requests, as required.
- Identify and implement process improvement and risk mitigation.
The Skills You Bring
- Bachelor's degree required (Accounting major preferred).
- CPA (or equivalent) and /or MBA preferred.
- 1+ years previous work experience in Accounting or related field required.
- General accounting and/or functional skills for area of expertise.
- Exhibit a strong work ethic and high degree of self-motivation.
- Must possess good communication skills.
- Ability to organize data, perform independent analysis, and provide explanations/conclusions to management.
- Ability to work with limited supervision while applying previous experience to execute moderately complex tasks.
- Ability to contribute meaningfully to projects.
- Comfortable interacting with other personnel in group or support staff from other departments; may interact with other internal and external personnel (i.e., external auditors, regulators) on specific projects or routine matters, usually under supervision.
- Advanced MS Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.) preferred.
